I have an overall experience of almost 3.5 years and my career chronology is as follows:

1. Served my previous org for a period of 2.5 years.
2. Serving my current org for almost more than a year now.

Now I have an urgent requirement to move back to the place of my origin (due to some family reasons). In order to materialise that, I need to take up a job in some company based out of my native place. In this case, would my rating as a stable/dependable resource be taking a hit ? Its going to be my third job in a career span of 4 years.

Please advise.

2.5 years and one year sound stable enough. You do not convey the impression of being a job hopper.
I would suggest being honest and up front during the interview, regarding the reason for a job change. I have observed many companies respect and encourage family values. Switching jobs because of family issues would be seen as a positive point for such kind of companies.
On the flip side, it would also (probably) mean you would not be available for work outside your home town. If your prospective employer is the kind where the employees need to be on the client site for development, then it might work against you.

I would suggest, be upfront and make sure you discuss and clarify this point during the interview.

It does to me. Or at least it would if there wasn't a good explanation for the frequent moves - which a move in case of family issues is, so it depends a bit on how well you can explain the reason for the move *to* your current company. I'd advise to stay with your next company for at least 4 years or so to gain a period of stable employment on your CV.
