What a mess!

How hard can it be for a web site to clearly provide instructions for registering and downloading the part 2 assignment?

Look at this link on the Oracle site which shows that the charge for the exam is 300 dollars.

Click on register and you will get this page which shows that the charge is 125 dollars and that you need to email the assignment to some email address as opposed to uploading it.

Am I missing something or should we re-architect the Oracle web site first after getting the SCEA credential.

whaaaaat?? - I had paid $375 for the assignment already and its been 12 days now and I'm yet to receive any information regarding that. Now you are saying its 300 or may be 125? - I'm ok with the 375 I spent - that is not the issue - my issue is can they please allow me to start the assignment plzzzz..

I am not sure how authentic is the prometric link. Its not only about the price.
It also says that the assignment exam is "310-300A" which I have never heard of.
The code for assignment exam as can be verified from Sun/Oracle site is : 310-301A.

You are right. However, that is the page you get when you click on "Register" from the official Oracle page for SCEA part 2. Most probably it is some dude in Oracle who hasn't checked if he is linking the correct page to the "Register" hyperlink. Can't believe these take production page updates so lightly.

The mess is not that bad actually. I signed up thru the register link on oracle site for Part II. Once you have logged in, it does say the right Exam number and the cost is $125. I have not bought the test yet. But the instructions that says on the register link seems to be accurate. I'm not complaining if it is $125.

Looks like it is official. The cost is 125 dollars. The page which was showing 300 dollars has been updated to reflect 125 dollars.

Those of you folks who paid more (375 or 300) should seek a refund.

Yes - looks like it has started working now - Deepak what do you think we should do now? - go ahead and purchase the 125 and start doing it or wait for the 375 to show up? - I guess I'm just asking this question to myself - not sure what I'm going to do though.

Click First Time Registration and create your web testing profile. You must have your Prometric ID you used when you took 310-052 at Prometric when you create your web registration here. Without this Prometric ID your certification records will not merge. Your Prometric ID will start with 2 letters followed by 7 characters.
After you have created your profile by First Time Registration, click the Public Tests submit button.
Choose the SCEA 310-301A exam. There is no promotion or voucher code. Complete payment of $125 and begin test.
Your SCEA assignment is randomly chosen. You must print your assignment. The exam session will stay valid for 6 hours after which time you will not be allowed to relaunch the exam assignment. You have up to one year to complete the assignment. The Part 3 exam (310-062) is an essay which you should take immediately after completing your work on the assignment. The essay exam asks you questions about your assignment, so it is important that you take the Essay exam while your assignment is fresh in your mind. You must take 310-062 at Prometric, like you did with 310-052. We cannot grade 310-301A without the completion of 310-062.
When you have completed your assignment (310-301A) and the essay exam (310-062), you must email the assignment JAR file as an attachment to the email address [email protected]. Make sure you understand what is to be included in the JAR file before send. Also test your file extensively before you submit it for grading. When you send your assignment to [email protected] please include your Prometric ID in the subject of the message.
Your assignment will be hand graded by a Java EE Architect. You will receive a grade in 4-6 weeks. Your grade will be Pass or Fail. For purposes of exam security, you will not receive details on your pass, and only limited details should you fail the assignment or essay exam. Should you fail the assignment for any reason, you may purchase the 310-301A exam again, and resubmit your assignment with corrections.


The instructions seem to suggest that you need to email the assignment from now on instead of uploading it. Has any one done that so far?

Also the instructions clearly mention the new exam code 310-301A, so they must expect us all to email them from now on. Beats me why someone would want a less secure way of sending the assignment than one that existed before.

Also the first part of the paragraph says [email protected] while the second part says [email protected]. Did I miss the "Oracle Gone Wild" video?

just an update, after 3 weeks of paying oracle ($375). Finally today i got assignment in mail. They are asking me to mail back once i am done. They say its a new process.

But i am confused, as it came in mail. Is my 1 year count down to complete the assignment started from the day i got this email or when it will start ?

I too got from the same id but the website has a different email id. Atleast we got it! - Yes I think it starts the day we received the email. Anyway I'm not waiting that long to finish it.

A mess it is.

1) to submit part 2 assignment (310-301A) the email with assignment details I got from Sun told me to send my solution to "[email protected]".
Emails to this id started bouncing. 
I searched online and found reference to "[email protected]" and submitted to this I'd. 
Is this correct.??? Or should I send to some other I'd? ( I am based in India)

2) I have followed all instructions for submitting part 2 correctly. 
But I accidentally typed "310-300A" as the exam for which I am submitting the assignment. 
On realizing , I resent the same assignment correcting the exam code to "310-301A". Is this allright?
Wondering if I'm gonna get hosed for this.
Worried a bit. Any pointers?
