100 % hike is possible now-a-days?

Hi

I Have 6+ Yrs exp in Java/JEE and working in software service company in India. I have attended few interviews and successfully finished all rounds, but I expect 100% hike in salary with the new employer ,but the they are not okay for this percentage, they okay up to 50% Hike.

I have several questions

1) 100 % hike is possible now-a-days?
2) How to prepare myself to achieve 100% Hike?
3) What type of companies provides 100% Hike?

I think you should be less worried about the hike, than the salary itself. Sure, if you were really underpaid, and 100% puts you at par, then yes, it is possible.

As a side note, you really don't want to be overpaid. It causes animosity, sometimes unrealistic expections, and eventually disappointment and getting pushed aside.

I got 100% hike when I moved from service based company to product based company.

Every company has a salary range for a particular position which depends on the team's avg salary, company's avg salary and other factors. To me it doesn't make sense to expect 100% hike. Instead have a salary expectation(in terms of numbers) and then find companies that would pay your expected salary for your experience and position.

Yes I do agree, do not expect a percentage raise...instead set the figure in your mind and quote it in interview.

Infact I got 120% hike for my next job from my current pay as my current pay was too low as compared to industry standards ...
Also I negotiated based on per month on hand pay rather than cost to company, most of the HR guys get confused if you start negotiating in terms of on hand pay.

Yes it is possible if you are underpaid but there is no guarantee that you will get 100% hike as every company want to buy your skills as cheaper as possible. There might be some companies which will pay you as per their company standards and you may get 100% hike.

I feel you should be happy with 50% hike if your current salary is not too low. It might be time consuming and difficult to find an opportunity with 100% hike. But again its very generic statement and things might change with your current salary, skills etc.,
