Project for Spring framework

Hi,

I am part of small local Java community at my work place. This time around we have picked Spring. We are just a group of 6 people and none of us is well acquainted to the Spring framework. We have already gone through the theoretical part and moving forward, we are thinking of creating a web application which will give us an overall idea of the framework and its components. The problem is that we are we need some ideas for the project which wont be too complicated, easy to handle and get us started. Also it would be great if we could touch most of the framework.
Any bright ideas?

However, we thought that maybe starting from scratch would be better, allowing us to look into design as well.
