Spring trainer

Hi,

I am a software trainer and I conduct trainings on JAVA,J2EE,Hibernate.

Now I am supposed to take training on Spring. So I will be referring to Spring In Action as a text book since it is a nice book as

everyone says.

I have to conduct a spring batch after a month so will it possible to learn enough material within a month.

My understanding is good and ready to do hard work.

I am not aware of annotations so will it affect.

If you are teaching Spring today, then the current version of Spring In Action should NOT be used to teach. It was written with Spring 2.0 stuff. You should get the MEAP for the second edition of Spring In Action, if you want to do the best for your students.

Spring Batch documentation is extremely good and should help you a lot.

Mark: I think Rakesh means a batch of students rather than Spring batch.

Rakesh: It really depends on how fast you learn and how much time you can't spend on it. You know how long it takes you to learn other things. Annotations are described in Spring in Action version 3 (MEAP)

So what is the conclusion.

Should I purchase Spring In Action for 3.0 or Spring In Action for 2.0.

What does MEAP stands for as it is explicitely said in the brackets. Is there any other version of Spring In Action other than MEAP.

Mark and I both recommended Spring in Action version 3.0; that seems like a conclusion.

MEAP stands for Manning Early Access Program. It is a PDF of the next version of the book. Since that version isn't completed yet, it comes with a PDF of the previous version. So you get a copy of the 2.0 version of the book as well.

Recently i attended Spring training and they taught me Spring framework 3.0...I applied for few jobs and i told them that i know only spring 3.0 version...
Guess what happened..they said we are still using 2.0 version..and there are lot of changes from 2.0 to 3.0..

In 3.0 you just add an annotation..boom it takes care of every thing..

My suggestion is: If the batch you are training is in job search then teach them spring version 2.5 for that you need to wait for Spring in Action 3.0 book..

Otherwise if the batch is already working and they know that they will be working on Spring 3.0 then teach them spring 3.0..for this also you need to wait till Spring in Action 3.0 book.

My suggestion is if you know older version moving to higher version is very easy..

I have a PDF of Spring In Action Second Edition.(Updated for Spring 2.0) i.e. MEAP. of which text book is still not in the market

right? OK I will go through the book carefully and will revert back for doubts.

That's not the MEAP one. That's the old one and is already on the market. The third edition is the MEAP one.
