I want to display < and > symbol my textview. But its not letting because of xml. if there a way around?

Escape them.
I tried using [& l t ; and & g t ;] : "<yo!>" and it worked.

An alternative(and possibly better approach) to this could be specifying the text in the values->strings.xml file and then use static functions of the Html class to format your text. Html class contains many useful methods for handling string containing HTML, unicode, etc. characters.
