Excel Writing Using Java

Dear Friends,
When I try to write data to excel i got the following exception

org.apache.poi.hssf.usermodel.HSSFCell cannot be cast to java.lang.String

code is like

 HSSFWorkbook wb = new HSSFWorkbook();
HSSFSheet sheet = wb.createSheet("Sheet1");
HSSFRow headerRow = sheet.createRow((short) 0);
HSSFCell headerCell;
for (int cnt = 0; cnt < titleArray.size(); cnt++) { // titleArray containg some data
headerCell = headerRow.createCell((short) cnt);
headerCell.setCellStyle(cellStyle);
headerCell.setCellValue(new HSSFRichTextString(titleArray.get(cnt))); // Exception is happening here
}

If there is any solution, please help me

What is the type of titleArray?

String is the type

List<String> titleArray

Another step to take is to split the line into:

String title = titleArray.get(cnt);
HSSFRichTextString richTextString = new HSSFRichTextString(title);
headerCell.setCellValue(richTextString);

Is it now clear exactly where the error is and what it is?
