From the moose image, I think the people who own JavaRanch are getting iPads. lol! I had one on reserve but won't be able to pick it up since I am going away for the weekend. :-( It is my wedding anniversary.

There have been some, as well as power issues:

The first pad with a touch screen keyboard that i can use as a universal remote control will be mine.

I don't want an iPad. I don't have any use for it and in my opinion it's missing some essential features, such as a camera and an USB port.

I do have a MacBook Pro and an iPhone, so it's not because I'm anti-Apple.

I'm a bit puzzled why people think it's missing a camera. I think it would be rather unwieldy to handle for taking pictures, and the camera would be unlikely to be better than what everybody already has in their cell phones.

I'd love to see someone holding it to take a picture

I don't want a camera on it to take pictures. I want it to be able to use Skype on it with video. In my opinion, there should be a camera at the top of the screen, just like a MacBook Pro has a camera at the top of the screen.

I think this is what most people mean by it needing a camera. However, I can see it getting a camera to take pictures. And I can see me laughing at people taking pictures with it.

Ok, I wasn't planning to buy one just yet -- and I still haven't. But one just got dropped into my lap as a gift.

I'm posting from it.

I'm still in shock at the generosity, but not too much to stop me from playing around with it. So far, not a single disappointment.

I wonder why all these other companies who had plans to release tablets one or sometimes 2 years ago always wait for Apple to take the step and then follow? Same thing with a touch screen phone, many companies had prototypes but no one released until Apple did.

I don't really see a use for me to have an iPad. I don't hate Apple or anything just don't see a use in having a huge iPod touch. Heck I don't even see a use for an iPod touch. As long as my MP3 player plays music I'm happy with it. Of course I don't even use internet on my phone so maybe I'm behind in the times.

I tried an iPad and found it heavy. It should have been less than a pound. Did anyone else find it heavier?

I haven't had any issue with the weight of mine. Any lighter, and I think that it'd feel flimsy.

I'm really enjoying mine. Some random thoughts:

The larger screen makes things so much easier than on my iPod Touch, and stuff that just isn't possible on the smaller screen is possible -- for example a really keen interactive Periodic Table application -- too cool! (Yes, I am a geek!)

I'm getting a lot of use out of it in meetings (so much easier than disconnecting my laptop and dragging it into meetings).

I'm thoroughly enjoying it as a book reader. Being able to adjust the font and font size is very welcome to my 53-year-old eyes.

Netflix streaming is flawless.

It hasn't replaced either my Touch or my laptop for things that those devices do better, but in the middle ground I'm finding it a very nice and useful tool.

Me too, and I'm still defining that middle ground.

It feels "solid" to me. Other people have remarked about how light it is. Maybe that perception depends on what you're expecting. It's heavy for a large iTouch, but light for a small laptop.

Another geek app: Planets.

I saw a video of an iPad app on YouTube yesterday, called Crazy Face. Do you know it ? Is this real ? I mean, it's completely useless, but so funny

There are already about a dozen chess games for the iPad. I hear a lot of good press about the Scrabble game.

Good to hear

Looking more closely, it seems that iBooks is US only... Do you need to go via iBooks Store to read books, or can you convert/import yours ?

I'm not completely sure on that yet. I've read that it uses the standard ePub format but I'm not sure about how to create such files or import them.

There are some good PDF readers for eBooks you already may have in PDF format.
