Javaranch is looking really good on the iPad and typing is really quick, just like if there was a real keyboard.

I was wondering who'd be the first to post!

Reports coming in weigh strongly, and I do mean strongly, in the direction that most people are finding it even better than they were hoping for. And for an Apple product, which is usually over-hyped to begin with, that's saying something.

I'm sure I'll be getting one sooner or later, but I want to know more about it before taking the plunge.

So Mark, writing apps for it yet?

I've been discussing the iPad with a friend recently and i was totally against it because of ergonomics. I'd really hate to work with it. But he got me with "just imagime it at home as a remote control on the couch table".
Tell us more abobut the experience with it, Mark!

Second-guessing what Apple will do next could be a full-time job (I think they call it "Analyst").

I've proven I'm very bad at it:
  • I laughed when I saw the first iMac. But it saved the company, and I've owned three.
  • I though the iPod was a ridiculous idea for a computer company. I've owned four.
  • When rumors of an Apple phone began, I scoffed. A phone? Get real!
  • I kept my mouth shut when they announced the iPad. See, I can learn.

    lol@iBroke.

Well if you ask me, I think with the iPad its the end of the iPx series. The iPad is actually the second tablet from Apple and I think this is what they had been shooting for all along especially after Jobs came along.

The term PDA was coined by Apple, which shows they were trying to create a market for themselves in this area long before anyone else but couldn't find success. They knew it had potential but probably couldn't find a way to get it in the hands of mainstream tech users owing to very poor penetration of Apple products in general. iPods and iPhones opened up a whole new market of people would would make this deice a stellar success this time around. I feel so baited.

I imagine Steve Jobs is talking to me:

Drainage! Drainage, Eli, you boy. Drained dry. I'm so sorry. Here, if you have a milkshake, and I have a milkshake, and I have a straw. There it is, that's a straw, you see? You watching?. And my straw reaches acroooooooss the room, and starts to drink your milkshake... I... drink... your... milkshake!

Well, I was half right with that prediction. Got the camera, but not cheaper. Now its time for iPad 3.

I predict still not cheaper, but better display and faster CPU, maybe even dual core. Plus a bit more RAM and maybe more flash memory.

New higher res display will be a mixed blessing for developers, as you will need to implement for both resolutions.

I predict in Apple stores by Oct 1, 2011 at the latest.

That's pretty much Apple's model; keep the price point about the same but with improvements.
