Hi All,

I have just started with EJB. I read about EJB container which controls security, transactions etc. I would like to know is there anything in hibernate similar to this?

No. Hibernate is a much simpler thing than an application server, its just an ORM. The usual container provided services are way above and beyond the purpose of Hibernate. You can integrate it with something that provides these easily enough though.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen alot of comparisons between EJB and Hibernate. I am not able to understand why there is a comparison when they are not used at the same level. I mean when EJB is providing so many features and Hibernate is simple than that?

Of course, you can always deploy your Hibernate application to an EJB container, and take advantage of Hibernate as an ORM tool, and take advantage of the features of an EJB container at the same time.

Then why people compare these two with each other?

Perhaps it's because modern EJB containers support the Java Persistence API, JPA. Hibernate also supports JPA. So, I guess you have people using that as the start of the comparison. You know, 'they both support JPA, but these are other things an EJB container will do for you.'
