I heard this morning from Oracle Certification that I have passed the SCJD certification, but I won't know my scores for another few days. I uploaded my SCJD assignment on 09 February 2010, and I took the SCJD follow-up exam on 10 February 2010. Nine (9) weeks later to the day, I finally heard about my certification results after many emails and conversations with Oracle/Sun. Just to be clear, that's 9 weeks of low-level anxiety. I'm very glad that I didn't fail, and that I didn't need to re-submit my assignment. I've already started to forget some of the finer points that made my project work.
The project itself and the certification work were interesting and challenging. I really enjoyed working on the project. I really didn't enjoy waiting for my certification results. The rest is history.
I would be remiss if I didn't thank Roel De Nijs and Roberto Perillo, as well as the other bloggers who revealed their secrets. Without this forum, I would have had a difficult time completing my SCJD project. I will brag about some of the unique aspects of my design after I'm certain that I didn't embarass myself with a score of 320. Probably, early next week.
Gary Fluitt (Sun Certification Manager) wrote:Harry,
SCJD is a Pass/Fail exam. We do not provide detailed scoring on Pass, and we only offer section scoring upon fail so that a candidate can legitimately resubmit. The purpose for the pass/fail information is to attempt to keep the exam somewhat secure. Detailed scoring, while interesting and educational to the candidate, can erode exam security. I can tell you that your score was a 362 out of 400.
I received the preceding message from Gary Fluitt, today, almost 11 weeks after I submitted my SCJD assignment.

How did they let you know you passed? Email? Via the website (which one)?
I have checked various links in the SCJD FAQ and cannot seem to find anything on my test. I turned in my project a few weeks ago and took the essay test soon after.
Congratulations! You have passed the Sun Certified Java Developer certification.
You are among the elite 1% of certified Java professionals who have gone on to achieve the Java Developer certification.
There was a problem in the database putting the parts together to calculate your certification. That has been fixed.
Your certificate has been qued for shipping. Look for a certificate in the mail in about 2 weeks. Thank you for all your efforts with this certification, and good luck.
I had emailed my submission jar manually to developer-submit_US@oracle.com on March 31, sat for the test on April 9, and Sun/Oracle manually emailed me today (May 4) by replying to that original mail message. I hope this information helps others waiting for their certification results.
