wait ,notify and notifyAll

wait(),notfy() and notifyAll()
methods defined in object class, and come into picture only when we deals with Thread, i agree we have main thread eventhough class doesnt implements Runnable or extends Thread,

so whats the purpose of definfinf these methods in Object class and not in Runnable or Tread , isnt is unnecessary avilbale to anyclass in java
