Hide when?

Remember that JSP/JSTL is only useful while the HTML is being constructed to send to the browser. Once the HTML leaves the server, JSP/JSTL is done.

I am sorry I got distracted in the middle of my post.

I would like to have a link in an ajoing column that when clicked it would display the hidden coulmn.

This is probably not he way to handle what I am trying to do.

My table contains remote records that are ready to be dispositioned. The dispositioner has to interact with a couple of columns of option buttons and one text box. The row also contains a link to save the changes made on that row back to the database. I need to include one more updatable field that will include dispositioners comments(textarea). If I include this textarea in my table it will not display as neatly as it does now but at the same time it needs to associate with the row being updated and accessed before the save link is clicked.

Using Jquery this can be achieved.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
