Hi,

I need to use Helvetica font in my application(Android application). I have following questions regarding the same:
1. Is helvetica.ttf free for use in commercial projects?
2. What are the legal issues that one must consider when using fonts in their applications?

I have also asked this question here.

Please move this thread to appropriate forum if required.

Thanks.

Fonts can not generally be distributed, no matter what platform it's for. Search for "free fonts" to find many that can be used and distributed for free.

hmmm...
thanks for your reply. Using fonts is not as simple as I thought;apparently there are just too many legalities to consider.

Any specific reason for this font?
As a rule of the thumb, it is always a good idea to go with the set system preferences, because the user is used to those preferences. Also, some people might have problems with a particular font. I personally find the "old document" style fonts very difficult to read though they look good aesthetically.

It was a query from requirements; I knew it was possible to include fonts but was unsure about licensing, legalities etc.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
