What type of IT professional does this certification benefit the most? Architects, Web Developers, Server Developers, Managers? I'm sure it benefits more than one, but would like to hear some other people's perspectives

In my personal opinion, It can help anyone who has some experience in JEE platform and wants to learn how things works at the higher level in the system.

For managers, I would say if you are talking about project managers, then it would be very diffcult for them, individual needs to have interest to complete this. But technical mangers it can help a lot.

And at the end of the day, it all depends on the individual what they are expecting from the certification. Few people do this for learning experience and few people do it for certification tag, few people wants to learn new technologies, so they pick certification path to learn.

Hi,

I want to re-activate this thread once I'm with the same doubt because of the new requirements / market and even because I've seen a lot of people that somehow dislikes the certification carreer program.

Sometime a go, I was discussing with some colleagues in a discussion list of a JUG that I'm part of, some of them showed some kind of repulsion of the certifications, the certifieds and the certification program. They argued that certifications is just a matter to memorize the answers of the simulate tests and do it, and I've seen others that have used arguments like "spenting time doing it is a waste of time".

I have SCJP and SCWCD, I'm planning to take until the end of this years the EJB and the JPA certifications, but it have decreased my willing to do it.

So! I want to know of you, software architects, software engineers, software developers and managers that are part of the community what you think about it. If nowadays that's a good path to follow or won't.

And if there is some of you that already have the SCEA / OCMJEA, it worth the effort? What benefits have you seen after do it?

Thank you guys!
