Showing loading while disabling the background

Hi,

I wanted to show loading symbol in the center of the page above the parent page on calling a javascript function

Please let me know how can this be achieved?

Put an absolutely positioned layer on top of the page that has a 100% width and height height. Set the background image with CSS and set the background position to the center.
