Getting lost here.

What is an example of an input only GUI component vs output only?

A label, image or non-editable text component is an output-only component. The only input-only type of components I can think of are buttons, menu items and password fields - these do not (fully; buttons have a clicked look and password fields have echo characters) have any visual feedback on the input. Most other components have both input and output.

Even those have output. They indicate the text, whether the component is enabled, etc. Even a password field shows you how many characters you've typed so far. I can't think of anything that is input only. Is this an interview question? Perhaps it's a 'trick' question?
