Dear Shahid,

This question has been asked many times before in the forum.

Please check ScjpFaq for further information.

Well you can appear for SCJP 6 in two months.

1- If you are purely new to Java, i will suggest to read HFJ
2- Read K&B twice
3- Solve a lot of mock questions
5- Try simulators like ExamLab, Enthuware and Inquisition. For a detailed list please check ScjpMockTests

In addition to this, you have already asked this question in the separate thread. So don't repeat the same thread again.

Hope this helps,

Anup Om

Thank you very much everbody

Sumit,

The questions are very similar to the ones that on the mock tests(though there were no long lines of code to analyze). But, not all questions were as tricky as the ones on the mock tests. Then again, after solving so many mock tests, you know most of the tricks.

So, IMHO, after finishing studying K&B, solve as many mocks you can. As Deveka points out in his ExamLabs, use mock tests as learning tools. After you finish solving a mock test, take couple of hours and analyze every question and answer. Write down the cause of the errors and keep reminding them to you.

And, don't be disheartened by your scores on mock tests. You will not do as well as you want to on first few of them. The key is to analyze and make a note of errors. You will quickly learn and do better later on.

The mock tests I tried were Exam Labs (4 out of 5 - I could not take Practise exam 3), K&B (2 tests) and Inquisition.

Also, to reinforce your understanding after studying a topic from K&B, these topicwise mocks are great.

Very nice, Anu! Congratulations.

By tomorrow or mid-week you should receive 2 e-mails from Sun. One e-mail will give you your Sun Certification ID and have information on how to register for the Certification Database. If you do not get that e-mail, send a message to [email protected] to ask about it.

Two to three weeks (or longer if you are not in the U.S.) after you register into the Certificate Database, you will receive in the postal mail a welcome kit containing your SCJP certificate and a small Sun Certified Professional ID card. Your score is not printed on them. If you do not get that package then send a message to [email protected] to ask about it.
