This week's book giveaway is in the Java 9 forum. We're giving away four copies of Java 9 Modularity: Patterns and Practices for Developing Maintainable Applications and have Sander Mak & Paul Bakker on-line! See this thread for details.
Both books and actually all the books in the SCWCD links are good. Personally I studied from David Bridgewater's book and I can recommend it. There are a lot of supporters of the Head First books which explain the topics in a easy-to-understand way. Charles Lyons book is not only for studying but also very usable as a reference.
Just choose a book that is comfortable for you, do a lot of coding, and be on this forum for questions!

Ok, thank you. Perhaps I'll try Head First and another book later.
