Clone() has protected access Getting Compilation Error

hi all,

During compilation i am getting clone() has protected access in java.lang.Object
Can Any body explain me "protected access" what it exactly refers?

  class A implements Cloneable
{
	public int i = 10;

}

class B extends A
{
	public int i = 20;

}


public class TestClass
{
public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception
{

B b1 = new B();
B b2 = b1.clone();//1
System.out.println(b1==b2);
