Are you using a library to accomplish this? If so, which one? If not, I think your question is which library you should use rather than which method.

You tried searching on Google with keywords like "webcam java" or "web cam java interfacing". If you would have done that You must have got access to many articles which
shows you how to access webcam from java using JMF API.

Ok, thank you, I guess I should've asked if there was a class in the core api that would manage this function. If I use this other library and then package the application as a jar, will the user need this libraryinstalled also?
