I passed the
SCEA part 1 today with 65%. It's ok result for me. Mostly I got about 60-70% on the objectives, but the best was the applicability of the
JEE with 88% and the worst was
patterns and web tier technologies with 50%. With Whizlabs every objective area was equally strength for me and it can be possible that there was especially difficult questions for those bad areas. I'm not sure if that affected I answered before
test that I have advanced level knowledge about patters. For most areas I answered intermediate.
Most of the questions were easy or quite easy. Some questions were really difficult and even if I know the techniques in the question that didn't help me.
In test I had enough time. Someone has wrote before that questions are really length, but their length was same as in the Whizlabs questions.
I spend about 80-100 hours during 2 months to prepare the exam.
I have more than 5 years experience of the developer of the
Java, old J2EE and new the JEE solutions. About JEE techniques I have used server side EJB and JPA in the projects, but not
JSP,
JSF, Web Services and JMS.
For the exam I read:
-JEE5 tutorial (3 years ago)
-JEE6 tutorial
-Cade's and Sheil's newest SCEA book
-design patters from the page

For the preparation I used Whizlabs and scored 57-67% for the first 4 final tests and 85-100% for the objective tests and 79% for the final test. I think the Whizlabs was very valuable in passing the test. I liked the explanations they gave. When I scored quite well on the objective tests, it was because they were repeated questions I was already learned from the previous tests.
But how I could have scored better? Maybe learn more techniques. I already knew everything from Whizlabs, but in the exam there was couple of the questions where I didn't know the techniques presented. Maybe Notes by Mikalai Zaikin should have been valuable.
