Hi Everyone, I´m new in this forums,

I was reading reviews about the Carmeron's book, and it seems to be be recommendable, but I ordered the Study Guide of McGraw Hill and its being delivered to me in theses days, also, I 've downloaded the 10 pages UML guide...

So, that material is enough to prepare the SCJA?

My plan is to create a 3month plan duration before for the preparation, what do you recomend?

thanks in advance, Pablo.

I think in three months time, you're going to have to tell us!

Sorry you didn't get my books. Roberts book is good as well.

I typically recommend to SCJA candidates to pickup both mine and Cameron's books. Your knowledge of the necessary material will be reinforced from various angles and will help ensure a higher passing mark as well as strengthen your foundation with the Java programming language and related core technologies. Plus, the books provide good reference material for many of your basic on-the-job Java-related needs.

Once you pass, make sure you update the SCJA Wall of Fame: (http://faq.javaranch.com/java/ScjaWallOfFame)

Wow, you got both authors of all of the SCJA book on the market to reply! Isn't JavaRanch awesome!

I think Robert's point is a very good one. If just one book was all you needed to read to pass a certification, the cert wouldn't be all that valuable. You'll need a few resources. The SCJA Guides, both mine and Roberts, are just that - Guides. They'll help you out a heck of a lot, but you've still got to put in a great deal of effort, and using multiple resources will really help you grab a top notch score.

I always recommend that people also grab a programming book, whether it's a first year Java course book from college, or even Head First Java, just so you can work on syntax and your programming foundations. This exam doesn't go as deep as the SCJP exam as far as syntax goes, but you do need to have a firm grasp on your loops, conditionals and Java foundations.
