Dear experts,

I've given my .war files to a web hosting company and the database set up. But, it's been more than 5 hours already and my website is still not up.

Is this normal? I'm so anxious I need to ask around.

Hope someone can advise me.

Thanks.

I'm really worried why it's taking that long....

5 hours isn't much. Maybe it's nighttime wherever the company is located, and nobody is on duty for such non-critical matters.

Since I wouldn't have patience to wait for that myself, I chose a plan where I can install everything myself on my web site; I wouldn't want admins to touch my files anyway.

I didn't really check their terms. There's just a clause that says will get back within 12 - 24 hours for support.

This is driving me crazy....May be I won't get to see my website.....omg...

It was Day time because it is a US company whereas I am from Asia.

Is there such a plan where you can install everything yourself ? May be it's what another expert had suggested - get an IP address and set up your own server, is that right? Wish I know how to do all these....but I'm not from Computer Science background so it will take me forever to do it....

No, there's a difference between getting a plan where you can install web apps on your own, and getting an IP address and hosting yourself. I've been doing the former with WebAppCabaret (which was recommended to you elsewhere) for years, and am quite happy with it.
