i want to calculate the displacement of pixel(how many pixels did it moved compared with some reference) between two images.
when i say two images they are consecutive frames of a video file. there is no doubt i am using JMF.

i am able to plot the changes between the two images by dividing the entire image into grids(rows and columns) and comparing any contrast variations in that particular grid and if any then marking that grid. so this is working out.

now my requirement is to calculate with what offset did a pixel moved from the first image compared to the second image.

i hope i provided the information what i am clear enough and if any one of couldn't please post what is to be still made clear.

I think the term you're looking for is "image registration"; searching for Java implementations of it may get you started.
