Hi, I just want your opinion on this matter

I've got my SCJP (1.4) back in 2006, but the next year I moved to another country, studied, paused.... long story short I haven't worked professionally for 3 and half years now but want to get back to my career.

Do you think re taking this exam now will help me, say SCJP 6 as opposed to get a SCJD?

IMHO, you should do SCJD (or SCWCD or whatever) instead of retaking SCJP. That will give you more knowledge than taking a new version of SCJP...
