I am developing a web application. In the jsp i need to provide a button, which on clicking will invoke the scanning process of some document using the scanner. Then it will upload the file to the Database. How should I approach?

In order to get a reponse to a question in any forum its a good idea to follow the principals outlined here. Perhaps you could have a read of that then update your question? It stands a way better chance of being answered if you do.

Please UseAMeaningfulSubjectLine when posting. Explaining your question or remark briefly on the subject line allows us to know what we are getting into, and if we will be able to help. I'm removing the extra exclamation points because they're really, really, really irritating.

You'll need to provide more information.

Do you already have a means to control the scanner from Java? There's certainly nothing in JSP that will do that for you!

Is the scanner attached to the client or the server? If the former, code executing on the server as part of the web app isn't going to have access to the scanner. You'll need to explore other options such as Applets.

If the scanner is attached to the server, is it useful to show controls on a page that might be viewed in a completely different part of the world?

Please TellTheDetails.
