What are the main benefits of using JSF over more established web app frameworks?

Thanks for any insights.

See my recent blog entry about some of the things that separates JSF (and other 2nd generation frameworks) from 1st generation frameworks such as Struts.

Hi David,
In a web app if the number of the pages are less would you recommend Struts or jsf. Which has a high learning curve?

If you are just starting out, then JSF would seem the better choice. Personally, I think it is cleaner and more coherent than Struts, and being an "official" Sun standard, it will be around for a while.

Cheers,

1) There is an experimental client-side GUI builder in Eclipse. But it is not really ready for prime time.

2) I am not aware of a free Eclipse plugin for visual JSF editing. But Exadel's product is based on Eclipse.
