Hi Friends,
Sorry I am new to code ranch please excuse my mistakes.

I am trying to port my current POI api version 2.5 to 3.6 for mainly supporting .xlsx file format support. But when my code tries to upload an .xlsx file at the point

;

It throws an the above exception with the following message :

The supplied data appears to be in the Office 2007+ XML. You are calling the part of POI that deals with OLE2 Office Documents. You need to call a different part of POI to process this data (eg XSSF instead of HSSF)

Kindly help me out how to resolve this issue.

Another basic question if anyone can help me out that what are other advantages if I do this up gradation. Is there any improvement in Chinese character reading.

Any kind of help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

2.5 is quite old, there have been numerous bug fixes and improvements since then. I don't think there's a short summary, but skimming http://poi.apache.org/changes.html should give you a better idea.
