Hello Venkat,

As per the discussions happening on the threads, i could get some information that Groovy works mainly on Java and its provides an abstraction to the core Java Language so as to simplify the work of developer. But in a true sense, the *real aspects* behind the scene remains the same in a program/application.

In such case, is it mere an abstraction?

Thanks,
Raghavan alias Saravanan M.

The one true language on the Java platform is the bytecode, but it is too low level for us to be programming with. Also, it is something we hope will evolve as time goes on to provide us better capabilities. Java, Groovy, and several other languages on top of JVM allow us to write code at higher level and these get translated or compiled into bytecode. So, with that view, Groovy does what Java does, give you ability to program your virtual machine. However, Groovy provides you additional set of capabilities than Java language due to a higher level of abstraction and facilities.

Yes Venkat. that's a nice, convincing answer

Its more like a framework like Struts which facilitates the web programming, it facilitates the easy way of accessing/programming with your JVM. Is that right?

Thank you!

Much lower level, at the level of Java itself.
