Why are the buttons "Post Reply, "Bookmark It", etc. disabled on some topics?

Can you link to specific topics you are talking about?

sometimes, if a thread needs to be moved, or worse case 'cleaned up', a moderator may lock it temporarily.

But there were other topics where the buttons were disabled. It seems like that happens to me every now and then. Right now, every topic I have looked at has the buttons enabled.

Were you logged-in at that time?

I think it depends on how the buttons look. If the buttons are missing, and replaced with a button, then it could have been a moderator that temporally locked it. If the buttons are the standard buttons, but faded, and not clickable, then Devaka is correct, that you are not logged in.

It wasn't a locked button, it was the regular buttons. It just happened again. One thing I noticed is that when I log in the navigation at the top of the page doesn't show me as logged in. If I reload the page it shows me as logged in. Then when I go to other pages it dose the same thing, first it shows me as not logged in then when I refresh it shows me as logged in.

It looks like this is only happening on my work computer. When I go to the topics from my home computer I don't have this problem.

Hmmm. I wonder if your cookies have gone wacky or if you have some caching issues or something like that.

Can you pull up a page you have never been to before and see if the problem happens then?

I think it has to do with the company network. I tried the forums from work through a different network and I did not have any problems. I wonder if it's because on the regular network I connect through a proxy.

I just tried it from a different computer on the company network and I got the problem. So it looks like it is caused by the company network.

I'm gonna guess that the proxy is attempting to cache pages.
