Hi!
Well, as have been discussed on other places here in the Ranch: Yes, the beta exams USED to be free. Note the past tense.
Now, with Oracle in charge, this seems no longer to be the case. There is nothing I know about this, since I have no affiliation with Oracle.
USD 300, as I also see on the Prometric is a little steep for a beta exam, I guess there is a mistake somewhere since the following page says that the fee is USD50:
LINK HERE
Note that you may have to click the link twice; first time to set your country and the second time to go to the actual page.
Best wishes!

Hi,

I am preparing for SCDJWS 5.0 and may be able to take test in End of Aug 2010. Can anyone share experience or guess when version 6 would be out?

Thanks.

Hi!
As far as I remember having read on the Oracle web page, one can expect the new version of the exam to be available 10 weeks after the beta has ended.
Keep in mind that the beta period may be extended - I contacted Oracle regarding one of their betas and they said it will, most likely, be extended with a month.
In the end, I probably know as much as you do, so the above should be accounted for as guesses.
Best wishes!

The final date is closed as soon as 150 participants registered.
(info from Oracle certification facebook account, since they ignore JavaRanch).

By observing people's participation /will to take SCDJWS exam in this forum; it seems it will take time for Oracle to get 150 participant for paid beta exam.
Thanks to all for reply.

Prometric has changed the price of the SCDJWS 6 beta to USD50.

Yeah, but does being a ninja come with a dental plan? And what about this tiny ad?
