Wow, we'll have to pay for two different exams ! Folks, grab a SCBCD5 until it's there
Again, exam topics are vague. What are advanced JPA features ? Optimize database access ?

* Design a Java application that uses a RDMS
* Create basic JPA Entity classes
* Utilize Entity classes by creating code that uses the EntityManager API
* Use JPA relationships
* Use advanced JPA features
* Ensure data integrity by using Transactions and Locking
* Apply Entity Listeners and Callback Methods
* Create error handling code
* Optimize database access
* Configure and package JPA Entity classes in enterprise modules
* Java Persistence Criteria API
* Java Persistence Query Language

Absolutely agree, this Oracle web-site "feature" is pretty annoying.

UPD: they recommend this training for candidates, but the study course teaches EJB (Session beans, MDBs, Singletons, Timer Services), not JPA. Who cares.....

Best regards,
MZ

Finally it is a good news that we have a separate JPA certification. I like this!

Seems like a few new cert is coming , how does it affect our existing cert ? For example , I already hold SCWCD5 and SCBCD5 ... so to become the so-called "Web Developer Master", I need to take the JSF cert ? do I need to sit upgrade exam on SCWCD ? and ... to become the so-called "Business Application Developer Master", I need to take the JPA cert ? do I need to sit upgrade exam on SCBCD ?

Hi,

I have done my preparation for SCBCD and have bought whizlab simulator too. And paid the exam fees.
Would I be able to take the SCBD exam in September 27, 2010.

Thanks,
Rajesh

You should take it sooner than later. Usually, the older versions of the exams linger around for an year or so. But it is Oracle running the show now, so nobody knows.

Ok,
Thanks Mikalai
I'm going to check for Pro JPA 2. Mastering the Java Persistence API and prepare the exam.

You can also use JPA 2.0 JSR specification.
I understand that it maybe not an easy reading for everyone , but I prefer specifications.

Hi Everyone,

I am interested in taking up the JPA certification and need advice.

What would be the best reading material for the exam? I am guessing there are no study guides yet.

What about mock exams and sample questions? Please share with me any information that you think may be useful.

Thank you.

You are right. Getting along with just the specification does not sound like a good idea when it comes to exam preparation.
