Hi,

I checked the class RandomAccessFile, it's not part of nio, but it's importing some features (FileChannel, FileChannelImpl) those are part of nio package.
Though I already little bit coded with DataInputStream and DataOutputStream, I would like to use RandomAccessFile and want to make sure that if I switch to RandomAccessFile, whether assessor will accept it?

Waiting for reply to continue further on this...

Thanks in advance,
Seetha...

RandomAccessFile is the most natural pick for this assignment unless you read the whole file at startup and flush to it only at the end. If you write / read frequently, RAF is the right thing to use, and it is perfectly valid.

Did you already try to use the search function of the SCJD forum? So you would not have to wait for a reply to "continue further on this..."

Thanks RAF and Roel for your quickest replies.

Yes Roel, I did search with some combination of words and seems most of the threads are nearly a year old. Since I don't know if there's any change in this. That's why raised this new thread. I can understand what you are trying to mean. 250$ is not a smaller amount. I think asking something when we are in doubt will not harm anyone. I apologies if you feel like irritated when you see such damn stupid questions from me.

Well champion, no need to feel bad... it's just that we have been hanging around here for quite a good time now, and sometimes we think "this question has been asked before", and sometimes people don't even search for the answer before asking a new question. Roel is not irritated: he is, indeed, a kind guy!

I know this certification is a lot of money, because besides the assignment you also have to take (and pay) the essay exam. And when I started my assignment (already 1.5 years ago, seems yesterday ) I also had a lot of questions, so no need to apologise.

The search function on this forum is a feature which seems to be rarely used by ranchers. I see sometimes 2-3 times the same question within a few weeks, even when a topic with almost the exact title is at the 1st page of the SCJD forum (and that's why a meaningful title is so important). So I try to promote the searche engine as much as I can, because it's a really good and powerful one. When I searched for RandomAccessFile (just using this word only) I found this thread, exactly your question and just 5-6 weeks old.

But if you have doubts, don't hesitate to ask your question and you are guaranteed to have (almost) immediately a valuable answer As Roberto said, I won't eat you, I'm a nice guy
