I am interested in doing some work for open source Technology for java (java community). I am not getting from where/how to start? Please assist me on this. Your valuable response would be highly appreciated.

My primary skill set is in Java Technology. I open for any small or big project, but should be on Java only.

If anybody from community is working on Java open source project and need some help, please do let me know.

First, find a project (or invent your own open source project, if you have a good idea) to work on.

There are a number of websites that host many open source projects, for example Google Code, SourceForge, GitHub, JavaForge.

If you've found a project that you'd like to work on, then read the developer documentation and start following mailing lists or forums specific for the project. Interact with the other developers. Get the source code, look at the bug database, see if there are any bugs that you can dive into. If you solve a bug, tell the other developers, submit a patch.
