Can't reset DOJO DateTextBox

Am I missing something in the code? I create a DateTextBox like this:

<input type="text" name="date1" id="date1"  value="" dojoType="dijit.form.DateTextBox" required="false" constraints="{max: new Date(), datePattern: 'MM/dd/yyyy'}"  /> 

It is inside a form. I then create the javascript function like this:

function resetDate() {
   dojo.byId("date1").reset();
  }

When I call that function, I get a message saying "Object doesn't support this property or method".

I'm using DOJO release 1.3.0.

Any help will be appreciated. The fabulous DOJO documentation says a DateTextBox has a reset function. ARGH!!

Found the problem, in the function, should call the field by dijit not by dojo:

  function resetDate() {  
   dijit.byId("date1").reset();  
  }  

That's all until my next DOJO problem. Oh well.
