I am new to jsp and I am having problem to open or download any files (pdf or word document) in internet explorer but it works in other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome.

Any ideas would be much appreciated..

If you would, perhaps, share with us the nature of the problem, we might be able to help.

Thanks for the response.

When I click on the User Manual link in IE, the browser doesn't open the pdf file (actually it just stays on the same page and does nothing). However in Firefox, it opens the file in the browser.

Cheers!

This isn't really anything to do with JSP. What's your IE instance configured to do for PDF files?

It doesn't work in any Internet explorer on any computer so I was wondering it might be something to do with the jsp coding.

I am the developer so i have to make it work for all the users rather than configuring their IE settings.

It is a very simple help page.

The UserManual.pdf is located in webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\resources\docs.

can someone please help?

It's a link, there's no coding whatsoever.

Oh, it's in WEB-INF. That won't work--resources under WEB-INF are not directly accessible from clients. You'll either need to stream it, or move it to someplace reasonable.

(How can that work in FF? The client side has nothing to do with request handling.)

Sorry David, I was wrong. The files are in C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\ROOT\resources\docs.
The jsp file is in C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\ROOT\resources\jsp.

The files can be opened/downloaded in Firefox and Chrome. So can you please let me know whether I should add something make it work in IE.

Thanks so much!
