I am a new guy here, and preparing for SCEA exam. I the SCEA FAQ at javaranch, there is a list of reference books for each section in part I, 2~3 books for each section. Do I need to read all of them? or only need 1 book for each section?

Your help will be appreciated!

Hi Bryan,

Welcome to JavaRanch. This is architect exam and expects in-depth knowledge in all the objectives so an architect can make well-informed decisions while doing his work. I would suggest you read the book in full but concentrate on specific chapters related to the each objective. Preparing for the exam gave me the opportunity to read all the books completely.

All the best for your certification endeavors.

Cheers,

Bryan,
Welcome to JavaRanch!

It depends on how much experience/knowledge you have before the exam. I only read the Cade & Sheil study guide while studying for the exam, but had read numerous books over the years before I even thought about taking the test. See experiences blog post which contains a section on relevant things I had read in the past.

In fact, you might want to get the study guide and then read books on what you feel you don't already know.

The answer is, it depends. I read about ~8 books + articles + whitepapers + references + tit bits.

Based on your experience you should plug the gaps when you find them.
