seeking quick reminder of what pathname to use when accessing app via java -jar runme.jar alone

Hi,

I totally spaced on how to figure out the database pathname to use with the java -jar runme.jar alone command. Can someone remind me where to find that? (Will it be the same in server/client mode?)

Thanks,

Lille

Hi Lille,

A warm welcome to the JavaRanch!

I provided a dialog which pop ups after the java command is executed. Here the user can select the database file he/she wants to use during this run of the application. When the entry is confirmed, the main application window is shown (and the dialog disappears) or an error message is shown (if the chosen database file is not a valid one).

For the networked client I have a similar approach, but the user has to enter server name (ip address) and the port number the server is listening on.

For the server application I just have a simple window where the user can choose the database file and the port number the server will be running on. This window has also 2 buttons: 1 to start the server and 1 to stop it.

Kind regards,
Roel
