I have a simple questions. Basically I want to display some mathematical symbols on the eclipse console output. The unicode string literal is '\u2249'. I am displaying other symbols in the same way, but this one comes up as a question mark '?'. So why does it do this? Is the terminal console using a different font? Is the font there but the glyph doesn't exist? In either case, how do I correct the issue?
Martin what font are you specifically using? I'm on a mac and using monaco. I've looked up the glyphs using fontbook and I cant find the glyph for unicode '/u2249' in the monaco font pack. What font would support this?
