How does one start developing iPhone/iPad apps? It seems to me that I have to register and pay $99 a year, which is quite a lot, when taking into account the exchange rate (I'm South African). So, is there something like a 'free' version? Secondly, if I were to develop an iPhone app, how would I go about running it on my iPhone? Will I have to jailbreak the device?
Thanks & Regards,

You can register (for free) to download the SDK. But to run the SDK and the Simulator (iPad/iPhone), you will need an Intel-based Mac which runs Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6).
Thanks for your reply. I don't see myself buying a Mac in the near future, so here's hoping that Apple will release a cross-platform SDK sometime. Although, from what I know about Apple, I'm not holding my breath.
