Hi all,
I've opened up a child window using window.open and set location=1 in the parameters. When I get to the page (same domain as parent window) I click a link that goes to an entirely different domain. The thing is the back button is still disabled. Should the back button be enabled since I went from one page to another using a link? Any help would be appreciated. IE 8 is what I'm using.

Rob

If you open a new browser window, then it doesn't have anywhere to go "back" to. Doesn't matter how you opened it.

No. The main parent page opens a window and in that child window it has a page in the same domain as the parent window. On the child window you can then click a link that goes to another domain's page, after going to it you scannot go "back" using the back button.

Perhaps that other domain is hacking around with the history then, to "disable" the back button. There are some bad sites which do that sort of thing.

I can't give out the site but I can say I would have doubted they would know how or want to do that, can't say for certain. I thought it strange for the back and forward button to become disabled like that after using a link so maybe it is something like that. I'll have to inquire about it and see where it gets me then. Thanks again for the response/help.
