1. I am trying to implement xml digital signature using Java XML digital signature API, and probably will use the Apache xml signature library(). I am getting a request from an external vendor. I want to change the <Reference> uri attribute so that I can use a local copy of the fields to be signed, instead of hitting an external uri(provided by the calling vendor) all the time. CAn this be done?

2. Is it possible to use a java bean to store the xml values and use it in signature validation? I didn't find any APIs supporting this in Apache's library.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
