Hey guys I'm new Here
I got my bachelor in Information System in 2006 , I was very good in Qbasic and VB in school. However when I graduate a friend told me to learn Java which I start out
doing the basic for 3 months , got distracted and end up reading jsp book , learn how to create a java bean , user persistance and even create website that has built in shopping cart i copy from a jsp book.

Now since I never been able to land a real job 9 to 5 with descent pay , Can SCJA and maybe SCJP increase my chance of getting hired ?

if yes , what next after certification ? Where the job at ?

*** if you could be factual in your answer will help also .

Congratulations on your degree! It's very impressive.

Certainly certifications will put you ahead of competitor that do not have the same certification. But it all goes towards who you are as a person, the confidence it gives you, and the knowledge you have that it proves. It won't guarantee you a job, but it can't help, and it certainly gives you focus in your studies. It's alot more fun studying knowing that industry recognition is the fruit of your labours.

Hey Ash. Welcome to the JavaRanch!

We're super-happy to see you anxious to sit the exam, but there are two things you need to do to get the best answers. First, don't cross post, because that just confuses everyone, and nobody knows where to answer your questions. Secondly, don't 'hijack' threads that don't deal with your particular question.

https://coderanch.com/forums/forums/posts/reply/0/500447

So, try posting it as a new questions and see what happens. And better yet, use the search feature on the site, as I'm pretty sure that question has been answered before.

Good luck!

You will probably have to start at the bottom and work your way up, that is the best. I don't think that getting SCJP will automatically land you a good job with decent pay, that comes in time.

Study up for the SCJP if you can, then try to go for a junior developer position, you will learn a lot on the job. Probably not very good pay but after 2 years you'll be better experienced and can try somewhere else.
