Done. I've now marked this thread as unresolved.

Maybe you can use the browser's print facility?

A print button comes in handy when a thread is multiple pages or needs a special print stylesheet. Most threads don't go several pages. Do you have an example of one that prints poorly?

For what it's worth - I don't usually find the print option useful unless there's a "print friendly view" for the page, which removes all those irrelevant content (like those buttons).

Sounds interesting. Thinking about why we might want to do this:
  • There is a lot of superfluous stuff on the average page that you might not want to have printed
  • The color schemes work well when viewing on-screen, but are potentially less than ideal when printing
  • It may be nicer to handle quotes and code formatting differently in a print view than on screen

  • And after listing all these reasons, I actually tried printing to see how bad this is. Mwahaha. I'll add this to the bug list now. Hopefully the image below shows how useless this is, but if you want to be really sure, click the image itself to see my results of printing in full size:

Ugh. Thanks for trying it Andrew.

Sasank: As a workaround in the meantime, the mobile view does print. Just add mobile to the URL:
    http://www.coderanch.com/mobile/t/509905/Ranch-Office/Why-don-we-have-print

For the technically curious, the mobile view was designed from scratch using div/css. Printing still shows the buttons, but at least it prints. The regular view was largely inherited from JForum.

    Thanks for workaround .

ok, actually i have seen this kind of print facility in one news website for example, print button example

so i was facinated by internal print button. But i think its ok to use browser's print button and ofcourse we have that small bug recognized

I'll add this to the bug list now.

and added to bug list. so all is at place now thank you.

sometimes i use "cutepdf" to convert the page into pdf and then use it for printing .

Now shall i press "resolved" button ?
