There is no such close event. All you can detect is whether the page is being unloaded or not.

Which is a good thing. See InterfaceDesignersRule1. It's my browser, not yours. If I want to close my window, you should not be able to stop me.

But when I try to compose an email in gmail, and try to close my firefox tab, even before the email is sent, GMail warns me "Do you want to close the browser tab? Your message has not been sent. Ok/cancel".
May I know how is that possible with Javascript.
