Has anyone taken this exam yet? Is it just the JPA part taken straight from the SCBCD exam and repackaged or is there new stuff in there?

Well I just sat the beta version of this exam, they should rename it the Criteria API Developer exam! I had 3.5 hours to answer 100 questions and the breakdown was something like:

Criteria API - 50%
Transactions - 10%
JPQL - 2%
EntityManager - 10%
Mapping Collections - 10%
General Mapping - 10%
Other stuff - 8%

Now I just need to wait 8-11 weeks to get the results

Hey guay,

I am preparing for the JPA Beta certification for the price among others things.

1) BOOK

But I really do not know if am using the proper book book to study for it.

Pro JPA 2. Mike Keith and Merrick Schincariol. Apress.

This is the book which you used for the preparation?

2) TEST, EXAMS?

The Beta certification is supposed to be closed already.

I did indeed use the Pro JPA2 book to prepare and very good it was too!

I used the Enthuware SCBCD mock exams and just created my own test containing all the JPA questions and the transaction questions, was a pretty good match but as I said the actual exam was heavily weighted to the Criteria API but I assume a large proportion of these questions will be dropped from the real exam.

Christophe is correct, as far as I know the final date to take this exam was 30th September unless Oracle has extended it.

Nope, it was not extended, all JEE6 beta tests (CX-311-***) already disappeared from Prometric web site.

Best regards,

Thank you for your rapid response.

But I am wondering if JPA exam will be released in the next months? or It was simply a test certification?
Because If you look up in Prometric to do JPA exam. It does not exist.

Cheers,

Alvaro

After the betas are over, it takes some time until the official exams are released. They need to analyze the results of the beta... It's going to be released, but I don't know when.

+1 for the JPA 2.0 book.
