AJAX ERROR : 412 Precondition failed?

I've been trying to solve an error that I can't reproduce very easily. Whenever I load the website I'm currently developing, the error callback function is being triggered by AJAX with a "precondition failed" error. I've been reading online how to solve the error but I have found nothing. I read that this is caused by the server (I'm using Apache Tomcat 6.0.26) returning false on one my request headers.

What's interesting and peculiar is the fact that I can't reproduce the error and the error is only present on Internet Explorer 7 & 8 and it happens very rarely. ( only on start-up once per day let's say?)

I'm not even sure if this is the right thread to put this under, but since the 412 error code is something to do with request headers and the server that validates the request headers I thought I'd start here.

I'd be grateful if you could help.

I hired a bunch of ninjas. The fridge is empty, but I can't find them to tell them the mission.
