Struts is a web application framework that's built upon servlets. So if you use Struts, you are using servlets.

Please use real words when posting to the forums. Abbreviations such as "ans" in place of "answer" only serve to make your posts more difficult to read and less likely to generate useful responses.

Welcome to JavaRanch!

You should introduce your friend to searching the web; it will almost always be faster than waiting for someone to answer you so you can answer your friend.

Both Struts 1 and Struts 2 are ways of organizing a web application. The differences are too many to list; it would be easier to just read up on whichever version of Struts you're interested in.

Struts it's a framework that helps your development. It will help you mapping your actions (like servlets), validating fields, etc.

It's a good tool. The Struts 2 uses anotation and it is easier to handle.

Struts it is like a front-end controller, it can handle requests in a better way for you.

It's not *like* a front-end controller, it *is* a front-end controller.
