Context: Windows SO
I have to put a server on security
I have to create thecerts
I don't know this issue very much, I'm trying to understand how id works
I think I could create a CA ad two certs and in case decoding .pem files in .cert
But these are only my ideas?
Is there something that could explain me the behaving of certs and security, I don't think to have understand it very much

(Someting like what is the common name, what is the trusting)

I tried these instructions:

openssl genrsa -out key.pem 1024
openssl req -new -key key.pem -out req.pem --?(I left default blank values)
openssl x509 -in req.pem -inform PEM -out xawes.cert -outform DER
the last bunded into the exception:

C:\OpenSSL\bin>openssl x509 -in req.pem -inform PEM -out xawes.cert -outform DER
unable to load certificate
6072:error:0906D06C:PEM routines:PEM_read_bio:no start line:.\crypto\pem\pem_lib.c:650:Expecting: TRUSTED CERTIFICATE

I don't understand very much, is there something to help me what Am i to do? and the underling behaving?
Thanks and sorry for my bad english
